Renaissance Revival: What’s Trending For Summer 2018

Hey damsels, don’t miss out on the renaissance revival taking over the fashion space this season. Square necklines, corset detailing, and mutton sleeves are officially back in style. Wondering how to work trends from centuries past into your current wardrobe? Have no fear, follow my tips below and you’ll be a modern day Marie Antoinette in no time.

Dress / Slides / Bag / Sunglasses / Rings

A-Line Dress

Choose a floaty frock with statement sleeves and a cinched waist. Neutral colors like black, white, navy, and beige keep the look in the 21st century. Pair with an of the moment straw bag and minimalist flats.

Mutton Sleeves

Mutton, who? I hear you, I had to google it myself. It’s basically a pretty, pretty princess sleeve. Voluminous at the top of the arm and tapers to a tight fit from the forearm to the wrist. Essentially, we are talking statement sleeves. Pair with medium wash straight leg denim and a strappy sandal (like this guy). A crisp white blouse is my fave iteration.

Corset detailing and ribbing are back in. I personally thought that Kim Kardashian and her klan killed this trend, but it’s back just a few season’s later. The difference? It’s more elevated this go around. The detailing is paired with a square neckline or interesting sleeve detail to feel more throwback instead of hood-rat.

Squared Up

Last year, it was the off the shoulder detail, this year it is the square neckline. The silhouette is oh-so flattering and can make an easy entrance into your closet. Whether in the form of a dress or top, you’ll be fashion royalty in no time.
