Release the pool floats, crack open the windows, and schedule a pedicure – it’s officially summer. Well, maybe not officially, but Memorial Day Weekend signifies what’s in store. If you are anything like me, you literally had not thought about summer attire until you had nothing to wear to this past weekend’s BBQ. So, to prevent future blank stares into the black hole of our closets, I am devoting this post to summer weekending.

Stripes are to spring what pumpkin spiced lattes are to fall. Nothing new here, people. But what does shift each season, besides our coffee order, is how we style the wardrobe staple of the pinstripe.
I am sad to report that black did not make it on Pantone’s color report for Spring 2018. Will the underdog ever have its day? But, on a more vibrant note, a bold and lively yellow, termed Meadowlark, did rise to the top this season.

My weather report for the foreseeable future is leather. The sumptuous, buttery fabrication is one of the few fashion items known to withstand the test of time and trends. So, move over Harley riders, lead singers, and moody 90s teenagers, leather is anyone’s game.
While my typical life motto is, “I’ll stop wearing black when they make a darker color”, sometimes you need to mix it up. Quite literally to be exact. The fashion gods have named print mixing as one of the top trends for 2018.
