I get it. Putting together a killer line up of office chic looks Monday through Friday is a full time job in itself. Then, you add in the blaring AC, regardless of what is actually happening outside, your desire to be comfortable while staring at a screen for 9 hours, and wait, you have to leave in 5 minutes?
Enter the capsule wardrobe. Fall has officially arrived (insert every overused fall euphuism in its PSL glory here), which means it’s time to inject some fresh fashion-forward pieces into your line up. Invest in items that stand the test of time and create building blocks for the rest of your closet. I promise each of the pieces I have outlined below will not only elevate your look for years to come, but will infuse new life into your existing wardrobe. Not to mention, the only topic at the water cooler will be your fabulousness. You can thank me later.

We know the ubiquitous blazer has been on the fashion A-team for seasons, so if you haven’t taken the plunge yet, you are passed FOMO. You are actually missing out. Look for an oversized silhouette for comfort and steeze. This classic piece is perfect for throwing over a midi or floor length dress, with jeans and a button up, or of course, as a matching set. A plaid in natural colors (think navy or grey) will give you the most mileage.

Say hello to your new best friend. A paper-thin turtleneck is the ultimate layering piece. Pair under button downs, slip dresses, or wear on its own tucked into a wide leg or denim trouser.

A white button up. Groundbreaking. I hear you. But, crisp shirting truly elevates your look. Modernize an outfit by layering a turtleneck underneath, pair under a dress, or choose a button up with exaggerated sleeves or an interesting cut.

You really can’t go wrong with the right pair of relaxed trousers. Opt for an oversized, wide leg siluotte. The length is key here. They must give the allusion of just lightly grazing the floor. Wear with anything from a blazer, a leather jacket, or even a t-shirt for an unexpected pairing.

Before you pack away your summer wardrobe, think again. A midi or floor length slip dress will take you around the sun and back. Throw on a blazer and layer over a pair of trousers or denim for a fresh look.

In all honesty, I didn’t think the Bermuda short trend would last, but I will say I am pleasantly surprised. When your jeans or trousers feel tired, these utilitarian staples feel fresh and trend forward. They also are an outfit in themselves, which is helpful for those days you hit snooze too many times. Create a tonal look with a chunky sweater and a to-the-knee boot.

The fashion crowd is obsessing over leather this season and I am HERE.FOR.IT. A leather trouser makes a serious statement and instantly elevates an outfit. Want to make it promotion ready? Try leather head to toe.

For the past decade, the ankle boot has been dominating the fashion scene, but this season, it has some major competition. Straight shaft, knee high boots are the new IT silhouette. Tuck trousers or jeans directly into them or layer over long length dresses and skirts.

A tailored coat will add major fashion points to your look rain or shine. We are not talking commuter coats that get removed as you walk in the door. These are statement makers meant to ensue drool from your coworkers’ mouths. Own it from your first coffee to after dinner drinks with friends.
