I know it is 80+ degrees outside and I can bet we are all currently sweating while reading this, but I am still dreaming of my future fall wardrobe. Pre-Fall has hit stores and it is only whetting my appetite for lush velvets, oversized coats, and my personal kryptonite, leather. But, instead of focusing on what we can’t wear until mother nature gets on the fashion calendar, let’s focus on what we can (I feel like a motivational speaker).
A trend that was literally everywhere on the Fall 2017 runway was plaid. While we might need to save the floor length coats and head-to-toe suiting for later (looking at you Balenciaga and Chloé), lightweight prints like gingham and check are the perfect transitional piece. Keeping your fashion game strong without dying of heat stroke = winning combination.
So, we established the print. Now let’s talk silhouette. In season’s past plaid was equated to grunge, but this fall it is all about the 70s influence. Look to statement pants at Tome and slouchy sport jackets at Tibi for of the moment inspiration. The key is finding the balance between masculine and feminine, as an overly girly vichy piece can feel out dated and too Spring.
